In the occasion of Expo, the Civic Aquarium of Milan – based in the only building left as a legacy to the city of Milan EXPO 1906 – produced the exhibition Leonardo and water.
Between science and practice in Milan from May 23 to September 6, 2015. The exhibition, dedicated to the study of Leonardo da Vinci on the water, is promoted and produced by the City of Milan – Culture, Civic Aquarium Milan and Silvana Editoriale, and is curated by Claudio Cali and Rita Capurro, under the scientific supervision of Pietro C. Marani, Domenico Piraina, Stefano Zuffi, Claudio Giorgione, Giovanna Mori, Elizabeth Polezzo and Nicoletta Ancona. The exhibition is part of Expo in the city, the schedule of events that will accompany the cultural life of the city during the first half of the Universal. In the halls of the Aquarium Milan, which over time increasingly has qualified as a center of study and reflection on the water in all its forms, the visitor will be accompanied by a story to discover the work of the master following the filtering rouge water, highlighting the many aspects of the personality of Leonardo that appears from time to time, as a scholar, scientist or engineer. A specific focus is dedicated to the Milanese period Leonardo, its studies on water and on ships and the influence of its projects to facilitate navigation on the Milan area. The exhibition is divided into three sections: the first and largest is devoted to Leonardo’s studies in Lombardy, by comparison with the system of waterways preexisting his arrival, changing not only the paths but also of technologies applied to them. |
